Samsung 60th Festival of Sport Carnival cum Closing Ceremony successfully concluded

Organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (the Federation), subvented by Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and sponsored by Samsung Electronics H.K. Company, Limited, the annual mega sport event – Samsung 60th Festival of Sport (FOS) Carnival cum Closing Ceremony was successfully held yesterday and today (3-4 June 2017) at the Kowloon Park.

Mr. Timothy T. T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Federation, Ms. ZHAO Yiyin, Vice-President of Information Technology and Mobile Business of Samsung Electronics H. K. Company, Limited, Mr. Raymond W. M. FAN, JP, Deputy Director (Leisure Services) of LCSD, Mr. Ronnie M. C. WONG, JP, Hon. Secretary General of the Federation, Mr. Karl C. KWOK, MH, Chairman of Festival of Sport Organizing Committee and Mr. TONG Wai Lun, BBS, JP, Vice-Chairman of Festival of Sport Organizing Committee officiated the Closing Ceremony to celebrate the successful conclusion of FOS this year. To enlighten the Ceremony, the Federation invited the Ambassadors of Samsung 60th FOS, including Mr. Angus NG Ka Long (Badminton), Mr. CHAN Chun Hing (Cycling) and Ms. WU Hoi Yan (Muay Thai) to promote the “Sport for All” message to the public.

President Mr. FOK said in the speech, “Recently, the outstanding performances achieved by our young athletes have motivated Hong Kong people to enjoy sport not only by watching but also by practicing.” “Sport for All” has always been one of the Goals of the Federation. He hopes people can find out which sport they are interested in through this Carnival and subsequently develop a healthy lifestyle.

The 2-day FOS Carnival cum Closing Ceremony held at the Kowloon Park is one of the celebration events of the 20thAnniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The programme of the Carnival not only included Sports Demonstration and Trials, but also Mini Competitions, Workshops, Seminars, Promotion Booth and Exhibition of Olympic Movement in Hong Kong. All activities aimed at encouraging active participation of the public for free to have a foretaste of different sports. “Sport for All” Photo Contest was also held during the Carnival and photography fans were encouraged to capture exciting moments in the event. In addition, five sessions of Lucky Draw with a total prize value amount of HK$ 170, 000 were held to enhance the atmosphere. (Trade Promotion Competition License Number: 48816, 48817)

About Samsung 60th Festival of Sport

The Samsung 60th FOS was one of the Mega Sport Events organized by the Federation to promote the concept of “Sport for All”. This year FOS is commemorating its 60th edition and has also been included as one of the celebration events of the 20thAnniversary of the establishment of HKSAR. Throughout March to June 2017, around 80 diversified sports events suitable for the public in all ages are ongoing with more than 60 Sports Associations’ co-organization.
